Almaher is an app and website (almaher.app) for memorizing and reviewing the Quran. This page explains what data we need, what we do with it, and how you can delete it.

Data we store

• Account data: your name, phone number (or email) and password. The password is hashed; nobody can read it, not even us.
• Your memorization progress: the pages you memorized and reviewed, your settings and recitation-check results, so your daily plan is calculated correctly and stays with you on any device.
• “Record and listen” recordings: if you choose to record your own recitation to listen to later, the recording is stored on our server, no one but you listens to it, and you can delete it from the app at any time.
• Prayer-time notifications: if you turn them on, we store your device’s notification address and the city you chose (or your approximate location if you tap “locate me” and allow it) to calculate prayer times and notify you on time.
• Basic technical data: device type, browser and login times, to solve problems and protect accounts from bad login attempts.
• Purchase data: the email address and phone number used for the purchase, the order amount and its status, to activate your account and handle refunds. We never see or store your card number; payment is handled by the payment provider.

Microphone and speech recognition

The microphone only runs when you tap “Start” in the recitation check. Speech is converted to words by the speech-recognition service in Chrome (provided by Google), or by a recognition model on your own device if you downloaded it. We do not store the audio of a normal recitation check, only the result (how many words were correct). Audio is stored only in “Record and listen”, when you choose it.

Data on your device

The app stores the Mushaf pages and recitations you download, and your state, on your device so it works offline. This is removed when you sign out or clear the app’s data.

Who sees your data

• We do not sell your data to anyone, and there are no ads inside the app.
• Your data is on protected servers rented by us, and all connections are encrypted (https).
• Our support team sees your account data only when you ask for help.
• The payment provider receives the payment details you enter with them, only to complete the transaction.
• The website (not the app) uses Meta’s (Facebook) ad-measurement tool on visitor pages only.

Deleting your account and data

You can ask us to delete your account and all your data (progress and recordings) at any time: email us from your registered number at support@almaher.app. We delete it within 7 days and confirm to you. You can delete “Record and listen” recordings yourself from the app right away. You can also ask for a copy of your data or for it to be corrected.

Children

The app is suitable for all ages. If an account is for a child, the parent or guardian created it and is responsible for it. We do not collect data from children beyond what is listed above.

About the method

“Manhaj Al-Itqan” is a method specific to the Almaher app. It is not affiliated with any other body, author or method and represents no one other than the Almaher team.
